The Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bushan announced in a statement that, there is no chance of choosing the vaccine by individuals as the government ordered 1.1 crore of vaccine from Serum Institute and 55 Lakh dose of vaccine from Bharath Biotech. This option of choosing is disabled because of limited logistical facilities and fewer vaccine doses are available. “In no country is there an option available regarding the choice of vaccines. We would be staggering our supply orders,” said Rajesh Bhushan. Serum Institute will provide the dose for the cost of 200 per dose while covaxin will be available at the cost of 206 and Bharath Biotech said that the company would provide 16.5 Lakh doses of Covaxin free of cost to the government. Meanwhile, SII has dispatched its first consignment to various cities. Air India, SpiceJet, GoAir and IndiGo operated flights from Pune with 56.5 lakh doses to Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh on Tuesday.
