15th December is the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. A man with strong determination and nationalistic patriotism. An honest man. Never bothered about his family but bothered about India.
What had he done?
He had unified India. He merged about 565 princely states into India. He made them sign the agreement with India to join India.
The problematic princely states:
Hyderabad / Nizam Princely state created a problem to join India. On behalf of The 7th Nizam, cruel Qasim Razvi went to Delhi and met Sardar Patel Ji. Nizam conveyed his message to Sardar Patel Ji that, they were not ready to become part of India, and they preferred to become part of Pakistan. If Hyderabad, had become part of Pakistan, we would have been facing another bigger problem. Keeping all this in mind, Sardar Patel carries forwarded operation polo or police action on Hyderabad. People in Hyderabad welcomed the Indian army with tricolor flags.
Jammu and Kashmir:
Jammu and Kashmir is another bigger problem and the problem is still unfinished. Nehru’s immature steps and unnecessary politics brought many difficulties to Kashmir. Until Sardar Patel tried making it normal, Jammu and Kashmir were almost merged into Pakistan. The Kashmir King and social reformer Hari Singh agreed to make Kashmir part of India. He tried to stop Pakistan’s hired army. Finally, Sardar Patel Ji merged the Jammu and Kashmir into India, otherwise, it would have occupied by Pakistan.
Junagadh is another problematic princely state, which tried to join hands with Pakistan. Hyderabad and Junagadh had Hindu majority and rulers were Muslim sultans and Kashmir was ruled by Hindu King and Muslim majority was there. These typical and strange conditions were overcome by Sardar Patel Ji. Junagadh is in Gujarath state and if it was merged into Pakistan, we would have had faced many problems. Sardar Patel Ji’s brave steps made this princely state as part of India. Pakistan has been trying to do politics using Junagadh and Jammu and Kashmir even in 2020.
Not caring about the PM position:
Patel Ji was elected for the position of PM by the majority of Pradesh Congress Committees, but Gandhi Ji’s interest was different. Gandhi wanted Nehru to be the first PM of India and Nehru got zero votes and very little support from PCCs and congress workers. Nehru’s only strength was Gandhi Ji. Finally, Sardar Patel Ji said that he was aged and he had said that, he was not interested in the PM position and gave the PM position to Nehru as per Gandhi’s decision. He was a follower of Gandhi never disagreed with Gandhi’s decisions.
The demise of iron man:
In 1950, on December 15th at the age of 75, due to a heart attack, he passed away. The nation mourned for him. Many governments have come and ruled us, but, no government praised his services. But, his greatness is recognized due to the open-source of learning on the internet and other sources. People have been learning about this great man’s unification of India. And sacrifices for freedom.
