Padma Sere awardee and a major contributor in Nuclear power in India, Sekhar Bassu passed away due to novel Corona Virus. He was also suffering from kidney ailments. He was passed away this early morning in a private hospital at the age of 68 years. Dr Sekhar Basu, a mechanical Engineer, is revered for his contribution to the country’s first atomic programme and he also pioneered the first complex nuclear reactor for nuclear-powered submarine INS Arihant.
