The cow is believed to be a holy animal by Hindus. As per them, killing a cow is like killing a mother. However, in recent times, people from different ideologies have been killing the cows which makes the majority of people’s sentiments hurt in India.
Recently in a non-Indic religious ceremony, a group of Hindus tried to ask specific religious people to stop killing the cow, but, they were chased by them.
Majoritarianism can be seen in this incident. The people who lynch people in the name of Gow Raksha and later, how the liberal people react, in the same way, the pseudo-liberals and news papers and TV channels digital media should react but they haven’t.
Is it compulsory to kill cows in a few religious functions?
As per any religious books, killing cows is not compulsory, in the name of god and in such religions cows should not be killed.
For example in Islam also killing of cows is not compulsory and Prophet Mohammad had never eaten beef in his lifetime.
There is mention of eating the animals which are sacrificed in “Yagnas” in the fifth chapter verse number 31 what about that?
Here are two things,
1. If the animal is sacrificed in the Yagna it can be taken
2. If killing by choice is there, for personal eating or any other purpose, it is considered the demonic nature.
However, Manusmrithi should not be followed by the people in Kaliyug, they should follow ” Parasara Smrithi”
We should understand here that, Manu wrote a book to tell the people about how to follow dharma at a time, later, it was kept aside and for Parasara Smrithi was taken as a book to follow.
What Indian constitution says?
Indian constitution told in the citizens should follow all the rights and directive principles. Rights can be followed by citizens and can take the right, but, directive principles should be imposed by the state governments. One of the directive principles is to preserve the cow.
But in a few southeastern states, cow meat eating is common, but, in fact, the directive principles told the citizens not to have the meat from Bos indicus. And in those, states eat the beef of Bos Taurus Taurus. That is the difference. So, a majority in India, Hindus should be self-respecting and people of other religions should help them and favour them by protecting Cows.
